Richard Barr Mickley Obituary
Richard Barr Mickley Jan. 10, 1940-Mar. 12, 2014 I was born in Los Angeles to Horace Hamilton and Francis Barr Mickley. I was the baby of the family as they already had Tom and Mary Lou. When I was five we moved to San Marino, CA. My class was the second one to graduate from San Marino High School. Cars were the center of my existence. All the members of my car club, the Saracens, worked on my "Bondo" wagon. I sold that and got the car of my dreams, a new 1957 Austen Healy Roadster. I drove it to Stanford and knew life had really begun. I married my first wife, Ann Rothwell, when I was in my first year of Stanford Business School. I had my newborn daughter, Pamela, in my arms when I received my MBA. I never left Northern California. My favorite jobs were Stanford Research Institute and eventually owning my own business, Fine Art Services, in Sausalito, CA. Art and sailing were my soul loves. I met my forever-wife, Joan Marechal (Diefenbach) at the San Francisco Art Institute, in 1979, where I was working and she was a volunteer. We have had an amazing, loving life together. It is hard to leave Joan; my daughter, Pamela Lischeske (Eric) and their son, Andrew; my step children, Greg Diefenbach (Rebecca) and their children, Graham and Rafe; Kristan Diefenbach (Jim Kravets); Matthew Diefenbach (Barbara) and their children, Haley and Ryan. I will miss my brother, Tom and his wife, Carol, my nieces and nephew, Paul Mickley and Nancy Sikora, Lisa Hersom and Kristen Kent. I look forward to seeing my parents and my sister, Mary Lou Taylor. Thank you friends, Issaquah Dock and family for all the love shared in my life. Please send all memorial contributions to the Braille Institute, 70251 Ramon Rd., Rancho Mirage, CA 92270.
