RUSSELL SMITH Obituary

J. Russell Smith Passed away September 9th, 2010. A memorial service will be held at Mt. Tamalpais Methodist Church, Mill Valley Sunday September 19, 2:00 pm. Russell lived in Mill Valley for 62 years. He was an avid sports fan, Volunteer fireman, former little league coach, and a postal employee for 32 years. His service to his community and his presence at local events will be sadly missed. He is preceded in death by his wife Ethel, survived by his three sons, James of Rohnert Park, Michael of Melbourne, Australia, and David of Fairfax. He had five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He touched many lives in his 87 years on this planet.. May he rest in peace.

Russ was a friend and a valued member of the Mill Valley Associatio of Volunteer Firefighters. He will be remembered and missed. It was an honor to know him. John Thompson, President , Mill Valley Association of Volunteer Firefighters

Russ was fine man and a wonderful neighbor. I will always remember him as a larger-than-life presence and I will miss his firm voice, warm smile and the twinkle in his eye. My thoughts and wishes go out to his family and friends on this somber occasion.
