Solveig Lorraine "Lorry" Strauss Obituary
Solveig Lorraine Strauss Mar. 13, 1923- Mar. 28, 2014 Lorry was born in San Francisco, and was raised in San Anselmo by her parents, Pearl and Charles Alfsnes, who had immigrated from Norway. She attended local schools and graduated from Tamalpais High, to which she commuted by train from San Anselmo. Lorry grew up loving the outdoors, nature and all animals. She spent her summers with her parents at Pinecrest, swimming and camping and this became a tradition carried on with her own family. She had a love of music and dancing, meeting her future husband, Jack Strauss, at a dance in San Rafael. At the time of his death in 1997 they had been married 53 years and had a wonderful life with family and friends, raising three children, and always, always dancing. Lorry is survived by her son, Rick Strauss and his wife, Kathy, of Ross; her daughter, Dana Strauss and her partner Rick Pullen of San Anselmo and daughter, Patty Tobler and her husband, Phylos, of Novato. Lorry adored her four grandsons, Christian Tobler, Ryan Paulger and Peter and Kent Strauss. She shared with them her love of life, great sense of humor and her words of wisdom. She also was graced with two great grandchildren, Sophia and Jackson Tobler. Lorry lived an amazing life full of love and family and she is now with Jack, dancing in the stars. To Remember is to Love, Celebrate, Laugh and Cry. Thanks Mom for your love, patience and gentle wisdom, you will be forever in our hearts. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Fireside Room, First Presbyterian Church of San Anselmo, 72 Kensington Road, San Anselmo on April 26th at 3:00pm.
