Walfred (Wally) J. Pelto Of Fairfax, CA, passed away peacefully in his home on February 27th, 2013 at the age of 93. Wally was born in Virginia, MN. He was the devoted husband of Lillian Pelto. Wally was the loving father to Ralph Pelto (Judy), Carolyn Tennyson (William) and caring stepfather to Carl Moller (Judy), Helen Childs (Ron), and Eva Austin (Kevin). Wally was a very proud Papa to 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife Helen Pelto. Wally was a World War II veteran, and served in the South Pacific in the Transportation Corp. Wally and his late brothers Clarence and George were co-owners of Patterson & Elvin Iron Works in San Francisco. Wally, as he was affectionately known by his friends and family, was a skilled craftsman with wood as well as iron. When his children were small he built them swing sets and go-carts by hand. Wally loved gardening, camping, boating and swimming. He spent many years enjoying the Russian River, and in his later years he enjoyed his house on Clear Lake. He also enjoyed traveling, dancing, and spending time with his family and close friends. He will always be remembered for his many stories and his big smile. Being of Finish decent, he was a member of FAHA in Sonoma, The Rebild National Park Society, Finish Brotherhood, and the Danish Soldiers Club in Petaluma. He will be dearly missed by all. Donations can be made to Hospice by the Bay. His celebration of life will be held at Deer Park Villa in Fairfax, CA on March 9th, 2013, from Noon until 4pm.
