WALTER CAMICCIA Obituary

Walter Angelo Camiccia Born June 17, 1923 and passed away peacefully on October 27, 2010 after a long illness with his loving daughters by his side. Born to Angelo and Philomena Camiccia in San Francisco. Walter resided in Marin County his whole life. He is predeceased by his loving wife Elva Camiccia of 45 years. Walter attended Fairfax and Redhill Grammar schools and attended Tamalpais High School. Walter was employed with Marinship and A.G. Schoonmaker both of Sausalito and then Marin Municipal Water District. Walter enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the great outdoors and Walter always had many great stories to share. Walter was a member of Marin Rod & Gun Club, Club Italia, I.D.E.S.I., S.I.R.S., and The Native Sons. Also Walter was a long time parishioner of Saint Rita's Catholic Church in Fairfax. Walter is survived by his loving family, daughters Susan Ecke and Sandra Camiccia, his son-in-law Tim Ecke, granddaughters Jessica Ecke, Lesley Ecke and Brianna Gallardo. Also survived by his brothers Bob (Marti) Camiccia, Jack Camiccia and Stan (Jean) Camiccia and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He will be missed very much by all of his family and friends. Visitation Wednesday November 3rd at Monte's Chapel Of The Hills, 330 Redhill Avenue in San Anselmo at 5:00PM and Rosary will be held at 7:00PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday November 4th at Saint Rita's Catholic Church in Fairfax at 11:00AM. Interment to follow at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery in San Rafael. I first met walt in Aldo and Ediths Barsottis house in the mid 1960 and have always had a fond memory of Walt and Elva, and what great people they are. We were ever so lucky to come in contact with such fine people. Walt will always be remembered as one of the best. I always enjoyed his sharp comments. Carlo Casagrande

Where do I begin. When I met him at the Rod and Gun club he and his family welcomed me. That friendship lasted and still lasts with the family. Its been many years now, and as I reflect back, I see him teaching me how to salt water fish, join in games at the club, and help me with my boxes for the troops at war. He touched the heart of many that passed through those doors.

Susan : To you and your family . Our thoughts are with you on the passing of your father, Walter. Such a gentleman and we will always retain such fond memories of his last visit to Boca Raton, Fl. I had the pleasure to meet Walt at the Main Rod and Gun club. His wisdom and humor will be missed by all. He always had a smile and a kind word for everyone. I would always look around for Walt, but he came by less frequently as time went on. I didn't have the pleasure of meeting his children, but you sure had the best. I'll always feel his presence when I'm out at the pier, or just having a drink and a hotdog at the clubhouse. I'll miss you Walt, but I know your with your lovley wife in a better place. A friend
