Obituary Condolences

Warren R. Uhte On January 30, 2014, Warren R. Uhte passed away peacefully accepting that he could no longer continue the active life that started in San Francisco on December 19, 1924. He grew up in Fairfax with his parents, Jack and Mabel Uhte and sister, Marjorie. His college education at MIT was interrupted by the WW2 draft, and he served three years as a conscientious objector working on the Coast and Geodetic Survey before earning his BS in Civil Engineering at Stanford University. In 1946 he married LaVerne Brookover whom he had met at Fairfax Community Church. He is also survived by their three children, Carol Uhte, John Uhte, and Richard Uhte as well as two grandchildren, Katie and Carl Uhte-Strohbehn. Warren's life was dedicated to saving and improving the environment as he worked more than forty years with Brown and Caldwell, a company that helps municipal, private and federal agencies solve complex environmental challenges. He then consulted part time while continuing to work for the common good on social and economic justice issues with Fairfax Community Church, the Mill Valley Seniors for Peace and the Marin Organizing Committee. On February 22, from 2:00 PM-4:00 PM there will be a memorial and celebration of his life at The Redwoods in Mill Valley.
