MARGARET (MARGE) AHERN

Obituary Condolences

Margaret (Marge) Ahern Marge passed away on March 11, 2011 after a long and fruitful life. Born to John and Catherine Majerus of Rulo Nebraska, she was the youngest of six children raised on the family farm in Falls City, Nebraska. After attending high school in Falls City, Marge graduated Cum Laude from Mt. St. Scholastica College in Atchison, Kansas with a degree in biology. It was in Falls City that Marge met and married her husband of 51 years, Benny Ahern who passed away in 1995. They moved to Novato in 1960 with their three sons Dan (Ellen), John (Janice), and Mike (Janis) where they enjoyed life, traveled and developed many friendships. As an avid golfer, she was a member of Marin Country Club for over 45 years where she enjoyed playing golf and bridge. She loved the 49ers, Joe Montana, Freddy Couples and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Marge was an active member of St. Anthony's Parish in Novato where she was well known as the jewelry lady from their annual rummage sale. Marge enjoyed watching sports of all kinds, loved eating chicken wings, drinking milk shakes but mainly survived on bacon, eggs and crispy hash browns. She is survived by her three sons, five grandsons and finally after all of those boys, a great granddaughter whom she never got to enjoy. She was an amazing woman and we will be telling Margaret stories for the rest of our lives. Rest in peace, Mom, and we've already prayed to Dad to set up a tee time upon your arrival. A memorial service will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church (Novato) on Saturday, March 19 at 11:00 AM. Memorial donations may be made to St. Anthony Church, the or a charity of your choice.
