Donald Dalpino Obituary
Donald Stanton Dalpino Donnie died way too early on April 30, 2014. Don was born in San Rafael, attended St. Raphael's School, Marin Catholic and U.C. Davis. He worked at Bell Market for many years and as a property manager later in life. Don was an avid sports fan with the San Francisco 49ers and Giants his favorite teams. He loved to travel to various locales including Mexico, Hawaii, Ireland, France, Italy, Greece, England, Turkey and Canada. Don's best attribute was his sense of humor. He loved to laugh and continuously had a joke or pun to share. He always laughed first to make sure the other person would, and his laugh was so infectious no one could resist it, even when the joke was groaningly bad. Don and his brother-in-laws could play puns off each other for hours. There was never something about which Don could not find humor, even the time he flew to Los Angeles for a Bruce Springsteen concert and someone stole his suitcase from the car. Or the time he and Betsy's family travelled to Seattle for a UW vs. Notre Dame football game and Betsy left the tickets at home. Don loved Bruce Springsteen and saw him perform 30 times. He travelled to 25 baseball parks across the United States and enjoyed a good margarita from time to time. Don married his soul mate Betsy Ryan in 1996. They had many adventures together and loved entertaining friends and family as well as travelling and attending baseball and football games. Don is survived by his wife Betsy, his father Donald of San Rafael; his sister Michalene Wright (David), nieces Amy and Julie and nephew David of Gilroy, CA, his brother Mat Dalpino (Susan) nephew James and niece Katie of San Rafael, great nephew Logan and great niece Makenzie of Gilroy. Don was preceded in death by his mother Janet and leaves his wife's parents Frank and Martha Ryan of Eugene, Oregon and his nine Ryan brother-in-laws and three sister-in-laws and 27 Ryan nieces and nephews. Don's favorite line was "The door is always open unless it is closed." Hopefully, he is holding Heaven's door open for the rest of us and helping St. Peter out with a few jokes. A celebration of Don's life will be held on May 7, 2014 at St. Raphael's Church at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the or Hospice of Marin.
