Stephen David Lombardi Obituary
Stephen David Lombardi Stephen David Lombardi's life was about his family, Italian traditions, good food, and a love of the outdoors. His favorite pastimes were fishing and hunting with his father, two sons, and many life long friends. He was born January 1, 1931 in San Francisco. Celebrating his New Year's Day birthday was a must for family and friends, for which Steve's birthday celebration became its own annual holiday. A highly active member of the San Francisco Bay Area community, his associations included S.F. Rod and Racquet Club, SF Forum (past Pres.), Salesian's Old Timers, Marina Lunch Bunch, UNICO of Marin, Cristoforo Columbo, and ICF. In 1948 he founded Lombardi Sports with his father. Steve remained actively involved in the family sporting good business his entire life. Lombardi Sports is now managed by his two sons. Steve married the sweetheart of his life, Barbara, in 1955. Together they shared their lives of love and adventure with their three children and seven grandchildren. He is survived by Stephen Lombardi, Jr. (Bette), Denise Bullwinkel (Clay), Ken Lombardi (Jeanne). Grandchildren: Steve, Grace, and Lauren Lombardi, Rita and Audrey Bullwinkel, Cole and Daniel Lombardi. Steve and Barbara were 49er season ticket holders since Kezar and attended five Super Bowls. Steve's most recent passion was his vineyard in Kenwood where he grew Syrah grapes and made Family Reserve wine, which was enjoyed with the traditions of the Italian dinner table by all who loved him. For 83 years Steve's love, generosity, and faith nurtured his family and friends. He was an extraordinary gift to all of us. His presence as a husband, father, Nonno, and party compatriot will be missed enormously. A memorial mass will be held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Mill Valley on Friday, July 18th at 11:00 a.m. with a reception following. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to: Salesian Boy's and Girl's Club, 680 Filbert Street, San Francisco, 94133 or The Godmothers of TMS St. Vincent School for Boys, One Vincent Dr., San Rafael, 94903. Assisted by Monte's Chapel of the Hills-San Anselmo 415. 453.8440
