Duilio Artigiani Obituary
Duilio Artigiani (1915 - 2014) Duilio Artigiani passed away peacefully August 4, 2014 at the age of 99 in his home. He was born in Cumberland, Wyoming to Augostina and Enrico Artigiani and at age 6 moved to Fabriano, Italy with his family. At the age of 19, Duilio returned to the United States living in San Francisco. In 1939 he married Alberta Masetti at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in San Francisco. He and Alberta had a beautiful marriage until her death in 1991 and he missed her every day since her passing. During World War II, he worked in the Navy shipyard for the war effort. Together with his brother, Frank, he founded and co-owned Superior Auto Painting in San Francisco and he was known for his expert automobile painting, specializing in classic show cars. There was nothing more important to him than his family and he enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, cooking spaghetti sauce and baking apple pies with apples from his trees. Besides his parents Augostina and Enrico, and wife Alberta, he is preceded in death by a newborn daughter, Rosalie, his brother and best friend, Frank Artigiani, and his sister Mary Fugiani. He is greatly missed and loved by his daughters and sons-in-laws: Vivian and Alfred Fontes, Marilyn and Bruce Grove, and Janet and Ralph Greenwood. He will always be cherished and remembered for being a loving grandfather by his grandchildren: Alfred Fontes, Jr., Roxanne Tuggle, Joseph Fontes, Dianne Fontes, Bruce Grove Jr., and Tracy Grove. He will always be treasured by his great-grandchildren: Erica, Amanda and Samantha Meier; Alfred, Johnathan and William Fontes; Austyn and Banning Grove. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, August 10th at 6:00 p.m. followed by the Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m. - Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, San Anselmo. A celebration of his life will be held at a Funeral Mass on Monday, August 11th at 11:00 a.m. - St. Rita's Catholic Church, 100 Marinda Drive, Fairfax. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, San Rafael. Contributions in Duilio's memory may be made to or Hospice by the Bay.
