Gabriel Serafino Murano

Obituary Condolences

Gabriel Serafino Murano Passed away peacefully on January 6, 2009 from complications resulting from cancer surgery. Gabe is survived by his wife, Ronda Gotti; son, Mark (Patricia); daughters Nicole Nada (Garrett) and Melinda Martin (Raymond); step-son, Zach Gilbert; four grandchildren; his mother Maria Murano; his sister, Helena Marsh (Keith); and his nieces and nephew. Gabe is preceded in death by his father, Serafino "Sam" Murano. Gabe was born in Germany to Serafino and Maria. He was raised in So. California where he fell in love with the beach, surfing and boating. It was only natural that he chose to attend Charminade University then the University of Hawaii in Oahu, Hawaii. Although his love of the sea lead him to study Ocean Geography and Volcanology on his return to the Mainland, he attended the University of La Verne College of Law where he wrote for the University's Law Review. After graduation he moved to Marin County and while awaiting the Bar results he was a law editor for Commerce Clearing House in San Rafael. After passing the State Bar, he opened a private practice in San Rafael. In 2000 Gabe was admitted to practice before the US Supreme Court; one of the most highly prized Bar admissions in America where only approximately 5,000 living members are certified to practice law. While his children grew, Gabe stayed close to them through his activities with Pop Warner Football as a coach. Gabe's love of the sea and boating compelled him to limit his law practice to family affairs and he opened Dutch's Marine in Novato where he and Ronda catered to the needs of boaters, fishermen and RVers. Gabe not only loved sailing boats, he was a craftsman and loved to restore and rebuild them as well. In his retirement, Gabe could be found at Port Sonoma working on the Ronda-Marie. Gabe shared his love for sail boating and the sea with his wife and children and they have fond memories of sailing adventures with him. Gabe's untimely passing leaves a hole in our world and he will be greatly missed. Visitation is Sunday, January 11, 2009 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service being recited at 2:30 p.m. at Keaton's Redwood Chapel, 1801 Novato Blvd., Novato. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 12, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church, 1806 Novato Blvd., Novato, CA.
