Ambrose Polacchi Passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at Lodi Memorial Hospital in Lodi at the age of 94 years. He was born April 14, 1917 to Louis and Florence (Pozzi) Polacchi. Florence had taken the ferry from Sausalito to San Francisco to give birth to Ambrose. He was three years old when his family moved to Mill Valley. In 1937 Ambrose, at age 21, became a co-owner in the Mill Valley Market. He joined the U.S. Army and served in the South Pacific from 1943 to 1946. Ambrose enjoyed the Pacific especially New Caledonia. He retired from the Mill Valley Market in 1974 and moved himself and Eleanor to Ione, CA. Ambrose enjoyed fishing in the bay with his dog and boat and retirement allowed him to spend more time doing what he loved. He is survived by his children, Dianne Madden and her husband, James of Mill Valley, CA, Carl Polacchi and his wife, Diane of Colusa, CA, Nancy Teixeira and her husband, Bob of Nevada; grandchildren, Tammy Sanders, Debbie Ghiringhelli, Cathy Polacchi, Chet A. Madden, Lisa Teixeira, Robert Teixeira, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Chelsea Ghiringhelli, Joshua Boworic, Zachery Boworic, Rachael Boworic, Mariah Polacchi, and Sylas Heintz. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Polacchi on December 30, 2001 and two brothers. Friends are invited to attend a funeral service Saturday, October 15 at 2:00 P.M. at Daneri Mortuary Chapel in Jackson. Interment will be in the Garden of Golden Memories at Sunset View Cemetery in Jackson. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
