Stanley Johnson Obituary

Stanley Johnson Stanley was born 4/25/1915 in Oakland California to Hope and Elliot Johnson. The oldest of four siblings, he was christened 9/12/1915 at the first Methodist Episcopal Church in Oakland. Stanley died peacefully in his sleep 9/15/2011 at the age of 96. The oldest of four, his brothers Murray and Elliot, and his sister Marian preceded him in death. Stanley attended Piedmont High School. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of California at Berkeley in 1937, and Harvard Law School in 1940. He served as Ensign aboard the USS Enterprise, and was a partner with the law firm of Bledsoe, Smith, Cathcart, Johnson and Rogers until his retirement in the 1980s. After retirement, Stanley spent his time traveling all over the world, and, when home, entertaining friends and family in his home in San Rafael. Stanley was survived by his longtime friend and partner Charles Stauffacher who passed away Memorial day, 2012. Stanley was also survived by his daughter, Joey Amrhein of Watsonville, California, his grand-daughters Jeannie Wilcox of Watsonville, California, and Liz Below of Davis, California, as well as his four great grandchildren. A private family scattering of ashes is planned for some time in the near future. No services will be held.
