Alfred Simionato Obituary
Alfred Simionato Devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather left this life to join his beloved wife, Diana, on October 27, 2012 at the age of 86. Born in San Francisco to Rose and Peter Simionato he grew up in North Beach, attending Commerce High School. After serving in the Pacific during WW II, he returned to San Francisco, attending first St. Mary's College and, after his engagement to Diana, graduating from the University of San Francisco. He worked in the Columbo Building for Galioni Accounting and later became a partner and then sole proprietor. He retired in 1988 to spend more time with Diana in her final years. Al met Diana Gemignani in Italian School while they were still children and it was love at first sight. They were married in 1947. Al loved all sports and earned a reputation as an ardent fan of his children and grandchildren. He missed very few sporting events, on occasion being thrown out of the gym when he expressed dissatisfaction with the referees, and even traveled to Idaho where his grandson played college football. Al is survived by his children Dianne Balzer (Tony), Peter Simionato (Roselyn), Cindy Moses (John); his grandchildren Christy Brooks (Ryan), Sandy and Eric Balzer, Matt and Jason Simionato, Jacquie Potts (Michael), and Diana and Andrea Moses; and great-grandchildren Riley and Ryder Brooks and Sydnie and Caylie Potts. Al is also survived by nieces Cheryl Guheen (Micky), Gina and Linda Gemignani and nephew, Michael Gemignani. He was preceded in death by nephew, Chris Gemignani. Services are planned for Saturday, November 3rd, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Novato. Visitation after 4:00 PM November 2nd, 2012 at Keaton's Novato. Thoughts are welcomed from family and friends 7:00 - 8:00 PM. The family is very grateful for the loving care provided by Elmer Vecina and Hospice by the Bay during Al's, final days. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice by the Bay - Marin County.
