Fred Goodstein Fred died peacefully on November 9, 2012 surrounded by his family. Fred was born in Michigan on September 1, 1921. He was in the Army and fought in WW II landing in France on D-day and subsequently received a Purple Heart. He returned to Washington DC after the war and married his lifelong partner Ruth. He was devoted to his three children: Sharon (Jerry), Harold (Kathy) and Steve; and four grandchildren: Matthew, Rachel, Rebecca, and Corey. He moved to Marin 32 years ago and was an active volunteer for City of Hope and the Marin Jewish Community Center. He will be greatly missed by his family and those many friends and acquaintances who were fortunate enough to know him. He was a true "mensch".
