ANNA MAE PARASKOS Obituary
Anna Mae Paraskos Age 76, of San Rafael, died Sunday, October 7, 2012, surrounded by her family. She was born to the late Raymond and Pearl Currier, January 15, 1936, in Windsor, Vermont. Anna graduated from Windsor High School in Vermont. She married John Paraskos in 1963, and they lived together in Virginia Beach, VA, Amherst, MA, and Pittsburgh, PA, before relocating to San Rafael, CA in 1985. Anna was a Librarian at Dartmouth College in Vermont, dealing mostly with historical documents until she married John Paraskos in 1963 and started a family. After her children grew older, she worked as a medical biller in Pittsburgh, PA and in Novato, CA for Marin Medical Practice Concepts. In Pittsburgh, Anna was very active at Bethany Baptist Church, held Good News Clubs and ran Child Evangelism Fellowship summer camps for the neighborhood children. She held various positions in the PTA as her children were growing up. Upon moving to California, Anna found a new church home in Marin Covenant Church and helped run the Women's Ministry. Anna is survived by her four daughters: Angela Danielson (Rob) of San Rafael, CA; Michele Williams (David) of Oakhurst, CA; Stacie Mancini (Chris) of San Anselmo, CA; and Heather Dunn of Meridian, ID. She is survived also by her 15 grandchildren whom she adored, and by her sisters, Beverly Kidd, Shirley Yatsevich, Roxanne LaBelle, and brother Al Currier. Her brother Ray Currier predeceased her. Anna was also survived by her beloved husband John who passed away shortly after she did. She will be remembered for her unswerving faith that touched many lives, her fun-loving spirit that found the humor in all things, her generosity and compassion for all she knew, her love for the underdog, her feisty strength balanced with a tender heart. The family thanks Anna's wonderful caregivers, Sulu Rabuka, Mili Vocea and Sula Buretini, who not only took care of Anna, but the entire family. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to either ChildFund or The Myositis Association. A joint memorial service for both Anna and John will be held at Marin Covenant Church in San Rafael, CA on November 24, 2012 at 2:00 PM.
