Rubiaco and I (Dean Melling) worked together in SF for about 3 years. Not only did we work together but we commuted together. Rubi lived in Novato and I lived in Rohnert Park. During that time we got well acquainted and worked as partners on many assignments. He was a good parole agent and it was a pleasure to work with someone who took his job seriously and was conscientious. I treasure the time we spent together. In that Rubi had been jail liaison, that made it much easier to interact with the SFPD and jail staff and Rubi knew how to get things done in a minimum of time. I want his family to know that he was a good parole agent, a good friend, and a joy to work with. Our family will keep his wife and family in our prayers. I had the pleasure of working with Rubi over the years, both of us transferring up from Soledad in 1969 to San Quentin. He was a good man, and will be missed. Rest in peace my friend.

Dearest Cousin Urby, and the Rubiaco/Loftin Family, There is little we can say about the loss of our dear cousin that you have not heard, please understand that he was, and will always be, a hero and someone to which we can all look for an example of what courage, determination, strength, and an undying and ever-enduring love for his family and friends.
