Vera A. Watson Jan. 20, 1917 - Jan. 1, 2013 The first of three children to Jack and Nancy Tackle, Vera was born in India January 20, 1917. The family moved to San Francisco in 1924 and by 1927 they settled in Fairfax where Vera and her brothers enjoyed a charmed life, attending elementary school in Fairfax and graduating from Tamalpais High School. After attending UCLA Vera graduated from Mt. Zion Hospital School of Nursing in San Francisco. Her training led her into public health nursing in Woodland, CA where she met and married the love of her life, Victor Watson. After Victor's service in the Army Air Corp in WWII the couple settled in Fairfax, where they raised their family and enjoyed life until Victor's death in 1995. After the birth of her third child, Vera went to work in 1956 for the Tamalpais Union High School District as a school nurse, traveling between numerous elementary schools within the district for the next twenty years. Throughout her life Vera's curiosity and lust for learning led her back to college and to join many local clubs. Her favorites being the Bonsai Club, Bay Area Arrangers, and Ikebana Club. She was also an avid collector of antiques and loved books and travel. She was pre-deceased in her life by two brothers, Dave and Eddie, and her husband Victor. Vera leaves behind her loving family, daughters Linda Pekonen (David), Nancy Hermsmeyer (Dennis), son Eddie (Lori), grandchildren Michael, Tracy, Jeff, Jesse, and Joe, two great-grandchildren, as well as many beloved nephews and nieces. Many thanks to Vera's other family of friends and caregivers at Atria Tamalpais Creek Assisted Living in Novato, where she flourished for the last ten years of her life. The family will be holding private services.
