John Paul O'Hara Aug. 4, 1930 April 2, 2013 John Paul O'Hara passed away peacefully at his home in San Rafael on April 2, 2013, with his sons at his side. Born on August 4, 1930, in Miller, South Dakota, to Ellen Anna (Burns) and James Joseph O'Hara, Paul was the youngest of six siblings. When he was six years old, the family moved to Valley Home (near Stockton), then to Sausalito, and finally to San Anselmo where they settled. Paul attended St. Anselm's School where he excelled in football and developed life-long friendships. He served honorably in the Marine Corps and Coast Guard, and like his father, became a carpenter. In 1956, Paul married the love of his life, Jean Walker of Exshaw, Canada, and together they raised four boys in Santa Venetia. Paul was active in the Gallinas Valley Little League, serving as President in 1972. He coached his sons' baseball teams, including the 1969 Marin County Little League champion Magicians. He was a passionate San Francisco 49ers and Giants fan. Paul is survived by his sister, Marguerite Kelly; his three sons Timothy (Joanne), John (Lynne), and Kevin (Nancy); his daughter-in-law, Vicki; and nine grandchildren: Daniel, Brian, Christopher, Michelle, Brogan, Keifer, Taryn, Kate, and Grace. Paul was predeceased by his wife Jean in 1995 and son Michael in 2006. The Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, April 5, 2013, at Monte's Chapel of the Hills, 330 Red Hill Avenue, San Anselmo. The Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 6, 2013, at St. Vincent's, Most Holy Rosary Chapel, One St. Vincent Dr., San Rafael. In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul's memory may be made to St. Vincent's School for Boys, One St. Vincent Dr., San Rafael, CA 94903.
