RON D. BATTAGLIA Obituary
Ronald David Battaglia Passed away peacefully in front of family and friends at his home in San Rafael on April 28th, 2013 at the age of 76. He was born to Angelo and Kay Battaglia on October 30, 1936. Beloved husband of Carol A. Battaglia for 50 years. Loving father of Debra (Chuck) Dwinnell and Greg Battaglia. Grandfather extraordinaire of Trevor and grand-dog Zoe. Brother of recently deceased Richard (Betty) Battaglia and recently deceased Linda (Barry) Beal. He was a native San Franciscan who was raised in the North Beach area of San Francisco eventually settling in San Rafael. He was a graduate of Galileo High School where he played football, baseball and was on the swim team. He attended City College of San Francisco and served six years in the Air Force Reserves. He worked for Liggett & Meyers Co. for over 10 years before going to work for Brown and Williamson Tobacco Corporation where he worked as an Account Manager for over 20 years. He lived to play golf with his friends and son, go to Reno or anywhere else that had his favorite slot machines and to frequent his favorite fishing holes in Willow Creek, Dunsmuir and Truckee. But most of all he LOVED to spend time with his family and friends, especially his grandson Trevor. To Trevor he was a magician, a jokester, a REALLY slow driver, the fashion police and a fisherman. But most importantly he was his best friend. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. A special thanks to all of Ron's friends and family who came to visit him, brought him food, did household chores and just sat and talked to him during the final stages of his illness. THANK YOU! A memorial service will be held at St. Raphael Chapel, 1104 5th Ave., San Rafael on Saturday May 25th, 2013 at 12:00 PM with a celebration of Ron's life immediately afterward at San Rafael Joe's - 931 4th St., San Rafael. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations in Ron's name to www. alsa.org (ALS Association) or to Hospice by the Bay (hospicebythebay.org)
