Charles Monroe Pierce Obituary
Charles Monroe Pierce March 3, 1959-June 18, 2013 Charles Monroe Pierce died unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 18th at his home in San Ramon, California. He was 54. Known to all as Charlie, he was the son of Virginia and the late James Pierce, and spent his childhood in San Anselmo, where he graduated from Sir Francis Drake High School. He later attended St. Mary's College in Orinda, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education. Charlie also had a degree in law from John F. Kennedy University in Pleasant Hill. Charlie spent his professional career in the home financing business, working for the past 13 years with Stonecastle Land and Home Financial in Danville. Charlie's passion, however, was sports. He played football in both high school and college and spent several seasons as an assistant coach at Redwood High School. He took up Rugby at St. Mary's, where he played for the Gaels, and later spent several years playing for the Hayward Griffins Rugby Club. Charlie was an avid fan of the San Francisco Giants, the Oakland Raiders and the Golden State Warriors. Charlie's great love was his family, all of whom will deeply miss his humor, ingenuity, kindness and charm. He leaves behind his wife of 10 years, Christine, and his three stepchildren, Josh, Andrew and Jaclyn, as well as his mother, Virginia, and his three sisters, Carrie, Ellen and Beth. Charlie will also be missed in his San Ramon neighborhood, where he was a familiar figure from daily walks with his beloved dogs, Ozzie and Gracie. Friends are invited to make donations in Charlie's name to Tony La Russa's Animal Rescue Foundation of Walnut Creek or the Drake High School Scholarship Foundation. Services will be held at on Thursday, June 27 at 10:30 a.m., at Saint Isidore Church, 440 La Gonda Way in Danville.
