DORA JOHNSON Obituary
Dora Johnson (Yiayia) Dora Johnson, precious wife, mother, grandmother, sister and best friend unexpectedly passed away on August 12, 2013. She was surrounded by the love of family and friends. Dora was born on April 18, 1935 the youngest of three girls to Greek immigrants Harry and Alexandra Stathis. She is survived by her loving husband Roland of 59 years, son Chris, daughter Susan Crowther, grandchildren Kelsey, Alex and Stephen, sister Connie Grey, brother-in-law Richard and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by son Robert and sister Audrey. Dora grew up in San Francisco where she met the love of her life, Roland, at the tender age of twelve. After graduating from Mission High School she and Roland married in November of 1953 and moved to Marin County where they lived and raised their three children. In 1965 Roland built the family a beautiful house in San Rafael that quickly became a warm and loving home to be shared and enjoyed by all of their family and friends. They've resided there for 48 years. In 1975 Dora opened a retail shop (Shop for Tops) in San Rafael where she worked and played for almost twenty years. She was a people person. No matter where she went, people were drawn to her - she was a grounded individual with tremendous perspective, a great listener, advisor and loyal friend. More than anything in the world, Yiayia Dora loved her family and she especially enjoyed entertaining at home and cooking for everyone. After retirement, she moved her parents into her home and helped raise all three of her grandchildren babysitting everyday. She never complained about taking care of everyone, she always said it was a gift to be surrounded by so much love. Please join family and friends for a celebration of Dora's life at their home in San Rafael on September 7, 2013 at 1:00 p.m.
