Ross Sheffield "Judge" Murphy Obituary
"Judge" Ross Sheffield Murphy 1950-2013 Judge Murphy passed away September 15th in his mountain home in El Dorado Co. Born in Greenbrae, he was a veteran of the SF Bay Area rock scene, nationally known for his smokey vocals in the Bay Area based ZERO & Lansdale Station. He worked with some of the Music Industry's best talents in a career spanning four decades. Judge was also a Master Craftsman. He began boat building in 1972, was a member of Carpenter's Local 35, and went on to build custom homes for Fortune 500 clients. A Redwood HS alum, he also attended UC Berkeley. Judge loved life, had a wacky sense of humor, great smile, hearty laugh, open heart, was fearless and dependable, and will be missed by thousands. His finest achievement was fatherhood. Judge was preceded in death by father, Jack Murphy (Mill Valley), mother Lyba Murphy (Greenbrae), and is survived by his wife, Lauren Murphy and their daughter Lyba (Camino), daughter Laurel Ghiringhelli and granddaughter Juliet (Fairfax), and brother Scott Murphy (Greenbrae). A private service is scheduled for 10/25. Inquire at info@laurenmurphymusic. com. A Benefit concert for Judge's 10 year old daughter Lyba, will follow that evening at Petaluma's Mystic Theatre.
