Joy Ann (Sunseri) Boehm Obituary
Joy Ann Boehm (n‚e Sunseri) Died in the warm embrace of family, in her San Rafael home on January 24, 2014. She was 83 years old. Joy was the embodiment of grace. She had a tremendous love of family, and a positive, buoyant and infectious good nature that touched and influenced many. Joy was preceded in death by her devoted and wonderfully loving husband of 54 years, Russell Francis Boehm. She is survived by her children: son Barry and daughter-in-law, Ronnie, of San Anselmo; daughter, Jackie Janusch and son-in-law, Mark, of Novato; daughter, Patti Petty and son-in-law, Mike, of Novato; son, Russ and daughter-in-law, June, of San Anselmo; and son, Jeff and son-in-law, Keith Rosenthal, of Mill Valley. Joy's grandchildren include Sara Roditi (Kirill), Jenny Cavanna (Conroy), Toni Postel (John), Janessa Gapinski, Joe Janusch (Miranda), Phil and Nick Janusch, Ben Spencer (Kourtney), Jimmy Spencer (Heidi), Tamara Thomson (Joel), Tom Petty, Ashley and Brantley Sherwood, and Tyrin and Tamara Boehm. Great-grandchildren are Dean, Calvin, Sophia, Jack, Charlie, Aleksandr, Savva, Dominic, Jay, Connor, London and Evan. Joy's two dear sisters are Shirley Petersen and Darlene Sunseri, both of Foresthill, and she has five very special nieces and nephews: Sue, Sheryl, Steve and Scott Petersen, and Sallie Whitsett. To list her pets and "grand-pets" would fill a newspaper page. A native of San Francisco, Joy's parents were Salvador and Henriette Sunseri. After graduating from Presentation High School, Joy worked for several years in San Francisco before focusing on her growing family. She returned to work in the mid-seventies to begin an almost twenty-year career at Mount St. Joseph - St. Elizabeth's (now Epiphany Center). A loyal Sunny Hills guild member in Marin in the 1960s, Joy was an active and engaged volunteer. In retirement, she happily doted over her grand-children and great-grandchildren. Joy will long be fondly and lovingly remembered by family, her many friends, and close neighbors. Rosary and Vigil at Keaton's Mortuary in San Rafael on Wednesday, January 29 that 7:00PM, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Raphael's on Thursday, January 30th at 10:30AM. A private Burial will take place on January 31st at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation, honoring Joy, to Epiphany Center (MSJSE.org) or to a charity meaningful to you.
