Michael D. Allen MARION: Michael D. Allen age 60 of Marion, Ohio passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at his residence. He was born September 16, 1955 in Kenton, Ohio to the late Joe D. and Rose L. (Lamb) Allen. Michael was employed as corrections officer and a captain at M.C.I. in Marion. On his off time enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on cars. He is survived by his daughter, Brandy Belcher of Marion, six grandchildren, Dalton L. Allen-Schuster, Chelsie D. Allen-Schuster, Harley D. Belcher, Erica R. Belcher, Alexis O. Allen, Hailey Allen, three great grandchildren, Nevaeh L. Belcher, Aryannah C. Allen-Schuster, Ariyan D. Allen-Schuster, his brother, Jerry Allen of Dola, OH., and his sister, Patty Haney of McDuffy, OH. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, his son, David E. Allen, his first wife, Sandy G. (Hoag) Allen and his second wife, Jennifer J. (Judy) Allen. A private family service will be held, the Boyd-Born Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family. Brown, Ruth Ann  
Ruth Ann Brown MARION: Ruth Ann Brown, age 67 of Marion, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at the Heartland of Marion. She was born on January 15, 1949. Ruth is the daughter of Benjamin F. and Elsie L. Brown. Ruth was an avid bowler. She loved to fish, camp, sew and watching butterflies. Ruth was a housekeeper and a cook for Ridgedale Schools. She will truly be missed by her family and friends. Ruth is preceded in death by her father and one son: SPC Mitch Bollinger. She is survived by her mother: Elsie Brown; four sons: Staff Sargent Todd (Rebekah) Bollinger of Marion, OH, Scott Bollinger of Lima, OH, Jeff Bollinger of TN, Andy (Stacey) Bollinger of Marion, OH; three daughters: Christina (John) Stamper of Bucyrus, OH, Carla (Norman) Phillips of Marion, OH and Beverlee (Shawn) Ellis of Perrysburg, OH; three sisters: Susan (Alan) Sharock of Cincinnati, OH, Sharon Swartz of Marion, OH and Becky Swartz of Marion seven brothers: Charles (Sandy) Brown of Marion, OH, Steve (Cheri) Brown of Murfreesboro, TN, Daniel (Cindy) Brown of Marion, OH, Jeff (Teresa) Brown of Marion, OH, Brian (Pam) Brown of Findlay, OH, Chuck (Gloria) Swartz of Marion, OH and Donny (Barb) Swartz of Marion, OH; grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Family and friends can visit the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Thursday, June 30, 2016 starting at 4pm to 6pm and on Friday, July 1, 2016 starting at 1pm to 2pm. Funeral service will be on Friday, July 1, 2016 starting at 2pm with Rev. Bill Middleton officiating. Burial will follow funeral service at the Grand Prairie Cemetery. Forrider Jr., Gerald J.  
Gerald J. Forrider Jr. MARION: Gerald J. Forrider Jr., age 72, of Marion passed away on Monday, June 27, 2016, at 1:26 AM in the Marion Manor Nursing Home. He was born on May 26, 1944 in Marion, Ohio to Gerald J. and Margaret (Rentschler) Forrider Sr. Gerald is survived by a sister; Lisa (Todd) Wallace of Marion, OH., two brothers; Ben (Nancy) Forrider and Tom Forrider both of Marion, OH., and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister; Pat Wren. Jerry loved playing bingo at Marion Manor and listening to Ricky Nelson music. From the day Jerry walked into Marion Manor, he became not just a resident, but he became family, the staff giving him the nickname "Jer Bear". The staff thought of Jerry as a big brother. He loved going into Wal-Mart on the city bus with his very special nurse and friend; Christy. Everyone loved Jerry. He will be missed by so many. The nurses and staff would set with Jerry when the family could not. The Wallace family would like to thank the staff off Marion Manor and Marion General Hospice for the wonderful care. Friends may call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. Pastor Dwight Hord will conduct the funeral service in the funeral home on Thursday at 11:00 AM with burial to follow in the Marion Cemetery. Haviland, Phyllis  
Phyllis Ann Haviland MARION: Phyllis Ann Haviland (nee Davis), 84, passed away quietly early Sunday morning on June 26, 2016. She was in the presence of loving family members at the time of her passing. Phyllis (also known as "Pat") was born on July 12, 1931 in Marion, Ohio, the daughter of William and Irene Davis. She married Robert Hugh Haviland of Marion on October 2, 1949. Together they had four children: William (Bill), Robert (Bob), Debra (Debbie), and Bryan. Phyllis was a loving Christian friend, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was incredibly non-judgmental and supportive of others. She will be remembered for her independence, caring nature, practical wisdom and innocent humor. She graduated from Marion Harding High School in 1949. Educationally, she excelled in good penmanship, application of grammar and reading. She enjoyed dancing, singing, roller skating, bowling and played a variety of word and card games, with a particular penchant for euchre. She was a devoted member of First United Church of Christ where she volunteered at community breakfasts and other events. She also volunteered at Marion General Hospital, where she worked in the gift shop. She especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and will be deeply missed by her large circle of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bob and sister, Eileen Crissinger. She is survived by her four children: Bill (Ann) of LaCrosse, WI, Bob (Jennifer) of Marion, OH, Debra Deerwester (Mark) of Kenton, OH, and Bryan (Georgeanna) of Worthington, OH; 12 grandchildren: Samuel (Renae), Julia, Mark Haviland and Kate Schroeder (Bill's children), Benjamin (Breanne) and Nicholas (Bob's children), Ryan (Hilary) Houston, Holly (Gabe) Meister, and Heather (Tyson) Kelly (Debra's children), Andrew (Allison), Matthew (Desere), and Annalee Haviland (Bryan's children); 10 great-grandchildren: Abigail, Grace, and Issac Meister (Holly's children); Bailee Phillips and Alleigh Maxwell (Heather's children); Kaleb, Ava, and Nora Houston (Ryan's children), Layne Haviland (Nicholas' child), and Riley Haviland (Matthew's child). A memorial service will be held at First United Church of Christ, 326 South Prospect St., Marion, Ohio, on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 7 p.m. A visitation will precede the memorial service from 5 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers please send gifts in her memory to First United Church of Christ. The family wishes to especially thank her caregiver Lois Shuler and Dr. Arvinder Bhinder and staff, for their loving and compassionate care that improved and extended the quality of her life during her last years, in which she battled life-threatening illness with grace and courage. C. Keith Marshall GALLOWAY: C. Keith Marshall, 59, of Galloway, Ohio, passed away June 23, 2016. He was born on July 18, 1956 in Weston, WV. Paul B. McGarvey MARION: Paul B. McGarvey, age 82 of Marion, passed away on Tuesday June 22, 2016 at the Marion Manor. Paul was born on July 10, 1933 in Columbus, the son of John and Helen McGarvey. Paul graduated from Holy Rosary High School in the class of 1952. Paul was a very hard worker all of his life. He started as a shoe salesman at Gilbert's Shoes. He then transitioned to Bargain City, Miller's Department Store and then the Sutton and Lightner store. Later on he ran the Matador Club on West Center Street for 10 years. Paul retired from the Marion Correctional Institution after 22 years of devoted service. Paul was a gifted musician, playing drums for the Muscat Ramblers; jazz was his passion. He was also an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds, the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Cleveland Browns. He was a spiritual man, attending St. Mary Church for three decades and most recently attending the Prospect Street United Methodist Church. Paul was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Eagles, Moose Lodge and the Elks. He is survived by three nieces and two nephews; his sister-in-law Olga McGarvey and his devoted caregiver Linda Spillman-Kear. Paul is preceded in death by his parents; his companion from his early years Bernetta McGary; his wife Rosetta (Midkiff) McGarvey; his golden years soul mate Grace Spillman; brother Patrick Lawrence and lifelong childhood friend Fred Russell. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Gunder/Hall & Snyder Funeral Home, 347 West Center St. Marion from 10 to 11:30AM; Funeral services will follow at 11:30AM with Pastor Joe Miller officiating; Burial will be in Grand Prairie Cemetery. Bayles, Violet Marie  
Violet Marie Bayles MARION: Violet Marie Bayles, age 77 of Marion, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2016 at the OSU Medical Center. She was born to the late Alva and Pearl (Simpson) Coykendall in Morrow, Ohio on May 22, 1939. On December 19, 1992, Violet married the late Derry Bayles, who passed on Decemeber 29, 2013. Violet worked at Wyandot Popcorn and retired from MedCenter of Marion General Hospital after 12 years as a housekeeper. She will truly be missed by her family and friends. Violet is preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Derry Bayles; one daughter: Angela Glass; one sister: Linda Smith; and three brothers: Steven, Wesley and Don Coykendall. She is survived by five sons: Gary (Teresa) Scott of Marion, OH, Timothy Scott of Marion, OH, John (Krystol) Scott of Wetmore, CO, Rodney Scott of Marion, OH and David Scott of Marion, OH; two daughters: Carolyn (Kevan) Clary of Salisbury, NC and Melissa (Shawn) Williams of Marion, OH; one brother: Rex (Dee) Coykendall of Gambier, OH; numerous grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
