Carl B. Varney

MARION: Carl B. Varney age 84 of Marion, Ohio, passed away Saturday October 13, 2012 at the home of his daughter in Michigan surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 2, 1927 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Nick and Bessie (Reed) Varney.

On October 16, 1948 in Russell, Ky., Carl married Rosemary Hollan, and she preceded him in death on December 15, 2007 in Marion.

Carl was retired as a Roll Turner with Pollock Steel which became Armco Steel and then become Marion Steel Co. He was a member of Calvary Bible Baptist Church, Marion Masonic Lodge #70 where he was a 32nd Degree Mason, and American Legion Post #584.

Carl loved to golf with his son-in-law Jim, he loved spending time on the Florida Beach with his wife Rose, and he dearly loved all of his grandkids. Carl was also a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran.

Carl leaves behind two daughters, Carla Baker (Larry Burge) of Calendonia, Ohio, Connie (James) Holloway of Detroit, MI., and sons Roger Varney (Frank Varney) of Orange City, Fla; Also surviving are two grandchildren, Kimberly (Chris) Harvey and Carl (Cindy) Holloway; and four great-grandchildren, Brady Harvey, Kiersten Harvey, Paul Holloway, and Therse Holloway. Besides his parents;and his wife; Carl was preceded in death by a sister, Merlle; and two brothers, Linwood and Roy.

Funeral Services for Carl will be Friday October 19, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Rev. Floyd Radebaugh. Burial will follow in the Marion Cemetery. There will also be a Masonic Service at 12:45 P.M., just prior to the funeral. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday two hours prior to the funeral service from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.

The family of Carl Varney would like to extend a heart felt thank you to Arbor Hospice in Michigan.
