NASHVILLE, TN: Charlot Waller Schaffner Age 87 of Nashville, TN. Joined her Heavenly Father on July 17, 2012 after an extensive battle with cancer. Chariot faced her illness as she lived her life: with grace, dignity, and passion, always maintaining joy and compassion for others.
She was born in Evansville, IN on July 11, 1925 to Lyle Buckham Wailer and Marie Clay Waller of Morganfield, KY. Charlot was the 3rd generation of her family to attend Vanderbilt University, where she achieved a BA in English and a MA in History, and was a member of the Tri-Delta Sorority. She was an active member of the James Robinson chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, descendant of John Brevard, Sr. of North Carolina; the Colonial Dames of America, descendant of Henry Clay, Sr. of Virginia where she acted as treasurer for 25 years; the Centennial Club; and the Nashville Symphony Guild.
