Claude Martin Pierce
MARION: Claude Martin Pierce, age 86, of Marion passed away on Sunday morning, July 15, 2012, in his home. He was born on March 19, 1926 in Galion, Ohio to George H. and Nellie (Feigley) Pierce. Claude married Betty Louise Schultz on December 31, 1948 in Greenup, Ky. and she survives.
He served his country in the U.S.Navy during WWII. Claude attended the Fulton Creek Friends Church regularly. He was always a good nieghbor, enjoyed gardening and visiting with children. Most of his life was spent as a self-employed farmer. He worked as an assembler for 36 years with the Marion Power Shovel Co. before retiring in 1988.
Claude is survived by his wife of 63 years; one nephew, Larry Ault; one niece, Shirley Shadley; seven brother-in-laws, Richard (Barbara) Schultz, Gerald (Bonnie) Schultz, Donald (Barbara) Schultz, Ronald (Judy) Schultz, Glenn (Judy) Schultz, Wayne (Barbara) Schultz, & Larry (Cathy) Schultz; four Sister-in-laws, Maxine Pierce, Carolyn Nunez, Janet (Gene) Guiley, & Marie Schultz; Nephew, Larry Ault lives in Shelby, Ohio; and Niece, Shirley Shadely lives in Galion, Ohio; along with numerous nieces; nephews; great nieces; and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Bert, Jim, & Charles Pierce; and three sisters, Dottie Long, Frances Mae Ault, & Gladys Walters.
Friends may call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 18, 2012, from 4-7 p.m. and at the Fulton Creek Friends Church on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the Prospect Cemetery. Pastor Dennis Peters will be officiating. Donations may be made to the Fulton Creek Friends Church.
