CALEDONIA: Franklin R. Ault, age 93 of Caledonia, died Monday, February 17, 2014 at the Presidential Center. He was born on July 3, 1920 in Cardington, Ohio to the late Albert and Lydia (Matthes) Ault.
Franklin was a steel worker for Pollack (Armco) Steel for 36 years. He enjoyed taking care of his sheep and gardening. Franklin was a former member of the Caledonia Fire Department. Franklin graduated from Cardington High School and from a Business School with an Associate Degree. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army.
On April 11, 1948, Franklin married Marjorie L. Yake at the St. John (Windfall) Lutheran Church, and she survives in Caledonia.
Along with his wife, Franklin is survived by his children: Karen (Don) Bender of Caledonia, Deo (Vicky) Ault of Caledonia, Connie (Gary) Warren of Midland, MI, Bonnie (Dan) Borders of Caledonia, Lynn (Kimberly) Ault of Sterling, and a son-in-law, Bryan Gandert of Edison; 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Franklin was preceded in death by his daughter Lana Gandert; siblings, Lewis, Virgil and Cloyse Ault, Flossie Ault, Alfreda Sulser, Idella Sparks and Geneva Witzel.
Friends may call on Friday, February 21, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at St. John Lutheran (Windfall) Church where the funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 10:00 AM. Rev. Adam Sornchai will officiate. Following the service the burial will take place in the Caledonia Cemetery.
