Geneva Arlene Martin

MARION: Geneva Arlene Martin, age 95, of Marion and formerly of rural Nevada, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 22, 2013 at the Kingston Residence in Marion, Ohio.

Geneva was born on November 20, 1917 in Morral, Ohio to William Raymond and Alma (Martin) Brooks. She married Walter T. Martin on August 6, 1939 at the Grand Prairie Baptist Church and he died on November 2, 2002.

She is survived by three daughters, Sharon (Fred) Collins, Jean (James) Peters, and Janet (Wayne) Porter, all of Marion, Ohio; and five grandchildren, Julie A. (Michael) Myers, Jennifer Hughes, Warren (Cami) Peters, Wesley (Sarah Jo) Peters, Laura (David) Comer. Along with ten great grandchildren, Anna and Abby Hughes, Mitchell Myers, Joya and Taylor Peters, Evan, Owen and Ashlyn Peters, and Andrew "AJ", and Callie Comer; and a sister, Betty Riley Gustin of Nevada.

Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, Wilbur, Don and Richard Brooks and a sister Leota Lust.

Geneva was a homemaker and a long time member of the Grand Prairie Baptist Church in Brush Ridge, where she was active at one time with the choir, Joy Circle of the Ladies Missionary Society, and helping with the vacation bible school.

She also was active with the Monnett Birthday Club, Child Conservation League and the Treasure Hunters Club. She enjoyed painting with acrylics, cooking, and spending many winters in Frostproof, Florida, with her husband Walter.

Geneva will be remembered for her kind, gentle spirit and her positive attitude in which she saw the best in everyone and everything around her, which was a great testimony of her love for the Lord.

Funeral services for Geneva Arlene Martin will be held at 10:00AM Friday, April 26, 2013 at the Grand Prairie Baptist Church in Brush Ridge, with the Rev. Gene Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Grand Prairie Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 25, from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky and 1 hour before service time on Friday at the Church.
