Georgette Obeline Gilliam
COLUMBUS: Georgette Obeline Gilliam, 85, of Columbus and formerly Marion, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2012 surrounded her family at the Sarah Moore Nursing Home in Delaware.
She was born on November 11, 1926 in St. Suzanne, France to the late Louis and Celestine (Rene) Digne. Georgette retired from Jim Dugans Mensware in Marion where she worked as a tailor. She enjoyed sewing and gardening.
She is survived by three daughters, Cathy Gilliam of Columbus, Corrine (Brent) Yager of Caledonia, and Natalie (Kim) Link of Galena; a granddaughter, Lorraine vanDommelen (Josh Davis) of Columbus; a sister, Celestine Ratta of Powell, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Odette Digne, Helen Gilliam, Jackie (Floyd) Boyd, Leo (Margaret) Gilliam, Edith (Gary) Copeland, and Tiny Gilliam.
Georgette is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Gilliam; a son, Edward Gilliam; a brother, Louis Digne; a son-in-law, George Leggett; and brothers-in-law, Julius Ratta, Cecil Gilliam, James Gilliam; and sister-in-law, Elfva Gilliam.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 24th from 2-5pm at the DeVore Snyder Delaware Chapel (75 W. William St.). A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10am on Monday, June 25th at the St. Mary Catholic Church (82 E. William St. Delaware, Ohio 43015) with burial following in Resurrection Cemetery.
