MARION: Harley Lawrence Gray, age 58, of Marion passed away on Monday, December 10, 2012, at 6:25 p.m. in the Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.

He was born in Fort Bragg, N.C. on January 9, 1954 to the late Harley R. and Juanita (Puckett) Gray. On June 1, 1972 in Prospect, Ohio, Harley married Charlotte June Johnson and she survives.

He served in the U.S.Army for 21 years before his retirement. While in the service, Harley was involved in Desert Storm and Desert Shield. He was a member of the American Legion and a past member of the Moose Lodge and Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Club. Harley was also active in the Christian Motorcycle Club and participated in many benefit rides to help others. He lived to help others with a heart as big as a mountain and was always ready to assist family whenever they were in need. For the past 15 years he was employed with Arcelormittal Tubular Products. He was very involved in a program with this company which provided toys and clothing for children at Christmas time.

Harley is survived by his wife of 40 years, two daughters, Nichole (Christopher) Starling and Marla Jeanette Gray both of Marion; three brotherss Billy F. Gray of North Carolina, Glen A. (Deb) Gray of Mt. Gilead, Oh., and Darrell E. (Vicki) Gray of Marion; a sister, Helen Louise Whitaker of Marion; four grandchildren, Shawn and Macey Goddard, Christopher Cole Starling, and Bradley Allen Gray. Harley was preceded in death by a son, Harley L. Gray Jr.; and two brothers, Calvin Dale and Harvey Lee Gray.

The Gray Family will receive friends in the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Thursday, December 13, 2012 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. No funeral service will be held at this time and burial will be at a later date.
