LARUE: Rev. John Friend age 82 of LaRue, Ohio, passed away Monday October 1, 2012. He was born December 18, 1929 in Superior, Ohio to the late Elroy and Dorothy (Barnhart) Friend.

Rev. Friend was married twice; First to Mary Louise (Boggs) on April 13, 1953, and she passed away on September 18, 2009, and then to Janet Roberts on January 8, 2011, and she survives.

Rev. Friend was a retired Crane Hop for twenty-eight and a half years with Armco Steel Co. He was also a U.S.Army Veteran during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the White Oaks Rd. Freewill Baptist Church,

An Ordained Minister of the Freewill Baptist Church, and preached for twenty-six years in the ministry. Rev. Friend held many services in nursing homes. As a hobby, he enjoyed rebuilding old cars and loved farming throughout his life.

Other survivers include two daughters and two sons, and three step-sons; Deborah J. (Jimmy) Harris of Marion, Ohio, Connie S. (Bob) Umberger of Wilmington, DE., John (Patty) Friend, Jr., of Raymond, Ohio, Rodney W. Friend of LaRue, Ohio, Harlen (Linda) Roberts, Jr., Rodney (Michelle) Roberts, and William Roberts; And , twenty grandchildren; twenty-six great children and; two great-great grandchildren; Also surviving are three sisters and three brothers; Darlene Endicott, Reba Lane, Jan Severs, Elroy Friend, Danny Friend, and Everett (Dorothy) Friend; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents; Rev. Friend was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane L. Friend Nelson; a great-great grandchild; a step-daughter, Donna Madison; two sisters, Hess and Mary; and four brothers, Clarence, Kenny, Earl, and Franklin.

Funeral Services for Rev. Friend will be Friday October 5, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the White Oaks Rd. Freewill Baptist Church. Officiating the service will be Rev. Brent Layne. Burial will follow in the LaRue Cemetery with Military Rites by the Marion Area United Veterans Council. Friends may call at the church on Thursday October 4, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Following the service at the cemetery, there will be a reception for famliy and friends back at the church.
