Richard Decker Wilson Obituary
Richard Decker Wilson

MARION: Richard Decker Wilson passed away at age 87 on Friday, September 27, 2013 at 5:30 AM.

He was born June 2, 1926 in Wyandot, Wyandot County, Ohio to Herbert Clark Wilson and Mae Alice (Turney) Wilson.

Dick was the fifth of seven sons and two daughters. He referred to himself as the middle son. The Family moved to a farm at the edge of Caledonia about 1932, where he and his brothers grew up farming. In 1940, the family moved into Caledonia as he and his brothers went off to Military Service. In 1946 the Family moved to Marion, OH.

Dick enlisted on 9-14-1944. During WWII he served in the Army Air Force-Artillery unit and was discharged 6-29-1946.

Dick married June Arlene Butterman December 16, 1948 and had two sons. He worked at Midtown Chevrolet as a Mechanic; he also had his own Motorcycle shop (1949-50) in Delaware for a while. He was a member of the Triangle Motorcycle Club and had a Harley Davidson he enjoyed with his wife. He worked at Marion Power Shovel for a short time. He was a self-employed Independent Contractor until he retired about 1994. He liked restoring old tractors 1930/1948 (John Deer, Ford, Cockshutt). Dick had a love of the farm and spent time with friends and family helping out when possible. Now if that wasn't enough he delivered rural newspapers for the Marion Star. He also had a small garden and flowers he and his wife cultivated. Dick was a prankster, always pulling something on the family kids and then standing back with a big smile or laugh. He was a loving father and hard worker from a strong family oriented history.
