William R. Kennedy

MARION: William R. Kennedy, age 91, of Marion passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2012, at 3:06 a.m. in the Partners of Marion.

He was born in Perry Co., Ohio on April 26, 1921 to Wesley Vernon and Golden Ethel (White) Kennedy. William married Margie L. Bailey on August 30, 1940 in Greenup, Ky. and she preceded him in death on February 13, 2008 in Marion, Oh. He served in the U.S. Marines during WWII. Following his military service, he worked as a car inspector for the Erie-Lackawanna/Conrail Railroad for 37 years before his retirement.

William is survived by three daughters, Diana Rose (Ed) Boutwell of Carey, Oh., Sheila Kennedy of Marion, Oh., and Suzette (Charles) Osborne of Caledonia, Oh.; a sister, Mary Schertzer of Marion, Oh.; ten grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death along with his parents and wife by a daughter, Margie Roberta Klingel, one infant son, one infant daughter, one sister.

The funeral service will be held in the Dayspring Wesleyan Church on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. with burial to follow in the Claridon Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor David Holdren and Pastor Charles Osborne III. Calling hours will be held at the church on Monday from 4-8 p.m. The Boyd-Born Funeral Home have been entrusted with the arrangements. Military rites will be provided by the Marion Co. Veterans Council.
