Willis H Crockett

MARION: Willis H Crockett, age 81, of Marion, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at his residence.

Willis was born March 20, 1932 to the late Willis L. and Mary (Ruark) Crockett in Winchester, KY. Willis retired after 21 years in the Army where he earned A Purple Hart, Silver Star, Bronze Star, Army Commendations three times, seven Good Conduct Medals, Qualidieo Parachutist, and numerous other medals. After Willis retired from the Army he was the former Constable Sheriff for Prospect and worked for ADS in Columbus, OH. He married Lois M Stigall who died in 2008.

Willis is survived by friends Frank and Hazel Shelby and their children and grandchildren; children: David (Gail) W. Crockett, of Brunswick, Ca., Louise E. (Jeff) Lowe of Prospect, D. Jane Burris of Marion, and Karen (James) Wallace of Prospect; Barb Cockett; brothers: Frank and Floyd; sisters, Lena Yearly, Betty Barlow and Brenda Chaudery; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Willis is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Russell Crockett, Bobby Crockett Catherine Fisher; and grandchildren, John Burris Jr. and Maya.

Family and friends may call from 3 to 5PM Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors. A funeral service will be held 11AM Monday, April 15, 2013 at Oak Knoll Baptist Church, 1002 Van Atta Ave., Marion, OH, with Pastor Allan Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery with The Marion County United Veteran's Council honoring Willis with Military Honors.
