Joseph Paul Gliem

CARDINGTON: Joseph Paul Gliem, 57, of Cardington, Ohio died suddenly on February 2, 2014 in Mozambique, Africa.

Joe left on January 24 to work alongside daughter Liz who is currently serving in a farming ministry with Iris Global Ministries in Mozambique. This mission was a great delight for Joe as he was able to use his carpentry skills to aid the farm in ways they genuinely needed.

Joe was buried in Mozambique February 7, 2014. Both of his daughters, Liz and Hillary, and nephew Ethan Long attended the service.

The people of the farm were an amazing support, growing to love Joe quickly because of his unabashed and overflowing love for them and the Lord. Joe was a prayer warrior, constantly bringing the needs of others before His Lord.

Joe was born June 4, 1956 in Columbus, Ohio to Fred and Sue Gliem. He graduated from Cardington-Lincoln H.S. in 1974. Joe married Karen Smith July 28, 1984. She preceded him in death on October 10, 2000.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, Fred Gliem; and his brother, Tim Gliem.

Joe is survived by daughters Liz Gliem of Norfolk, Virginia and Hillary Gliem, of Edison, Ohio; his mother Sue Gliem, of Cardington, Ohio; and siblings David (Laurel) of Thornville, Ohio, Robert (Regina) of Marion, Ohio, Dee (Roger) Sanders of Waynesfield, Ohio, and Sid (Kevin) Long of Cardington, Ohio, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Gliem family will greet friends Thursday, February 13, 2014, 2-5p.m. and 6-8p.m. at NewLife Community Church, 9955 St. Rt. 95, Fredericktown, Ohio. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, February 14, 2014 at the same location beginning at 7:00p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Iris Global Ministries or his daughters. To share a memory of Joe or offer condolences, please visit gompffh.com.
