MARION: Joseph E. Davis age 46 of Marion was called home by the Lord at his grandmother's home on Saturday, March 8, 2014. Joe had been in failing health the past two years, including amputations to save his leg.
Joe was born October 26, 1967 to his parents, Rosemary K. Davis-Enderle and his father Eric C. Davis, who both survive; his loving grandma, Mary F. Ottaviano survives; he has a brother John C. Ottaviano; two daughters Gianna Davis and Kelsey Barlow all from Marion; and loving partner Liza Burns. His grandfather, Joseph Ottaviano preceded him in death in October of 2000.
Joe was a professional builder & contractor in Marion for over 25 years, loving his work. Joe graduated from Elgin High School class of 1986, he was an avid player in football proudly wearing his jersey #56, and held many 1st place titles in weight lifting and shot put. Never knowing a stranger, Joe was always willing to help. Joe loved animals, often feeding those that had no food and picking up strays to protect them. His pit bull, Maggie, is waiting by the door for Joe to come home.
We will never forget you, Joe, no one will ever fill your shoes or be the man that you were. Many tears are falling and continue to fall, but we know that one day we will all be together again and have a joyous reunion. No words can express how much we love you.
There will be no calling hours observed. A memorial service to celebrate Joe's life will be held at a later date. Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, his family is requesting contributions be made to the Marion County Dog Pound, in honor of Joe. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.gunderhallandfolk.com
