Daryl "Doc" McClenathan

CARDINGTON: Daryl "Doc" McClenathan, age 90, of Cardington died Monday, June 2, 2014 at the Presidential Center in Marion. He was born November 13, 1923 in Marion to Frank and Stella (Beckel) McClenathan.

Daryl was a 1941 graduate of Cardington-Lincoln High School. Doc served as a Staff Sergent in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was retired from Whirlpool where he worked in the paint department, he had also worked at the Huber Corp. Daryl was an accomplished carpenter and a lifelong farmer. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Jenkins-Vaughn American Legion Post #97, and Gleaner's Chester Arbor.

Doc married the former Clara Heimlich on September 23, 1951 in the St. John Lutheran Church and she survives. He is also survived by his children: Brenda (Corey) Wylde of Fullerton, CA., Becky Hinchman of Worthington and Rick (Nydia) McClenathan, Pickerington; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and brother, Robert (Annie) McClenathan of Marengo.

Daryl was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Friends may call on Thursday June 5th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington. The funeral service will be held on Friday June 6th at 11:00 AM in the St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor Dr. Steven Dennis officiating. The burial will follow in the Glendale Cemetery with military honors.
