Barbara H. Collins

EDISON: Barbara H. Collins, age 71, of Edison, died peacefully Wednesday afternoon, September 26, 2012, at the Morrow County Hospital following a courageous two year battle with cancer.

On December 31, 1940, Barb was born in Geneva, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Barbara (Bruey) Burt Traxler and Ralph L. Clark. She graduated from Marion Catholic High School in the class of 1959.

For over twenty five years, Barb worked for G.T.E. in Marion in their training department, until her retirement.

A woman of faith, Barb was a member of the Canaan United Methodist Church. She also had served as a 4H advisor in Morrow County for many years.

She will be dearly missed by her husband, George Collins, whom she married on September 13, 1976; her daughter, Kim (Ron) Auld of Edison; her son, Tim (Tracy) Wilkins of Edison; her step-daughter, Becky Collins of Ashland; her eight grandchildren, Ashley and Amber Auld, Corey Collins, Jesse Andrews, Cameron Irons, Kelly Wilkins, and Makenzie and Olivia Dowalter; five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mary (Mike) Dardinger of Marion, Connie McFadden of Columbus, Peg (Jerry) Hissong of Caledonia, and Melodee Rawlins of Marion; three brothers, Larry Burt of Martel, Ted (Rosemary) Burt of Marion, and Bret (Diane) Clark of Erie, PA; a close friend, Ann Wojtseck; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Including her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her step-father, Paul Burt.

Her family will greet friends from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. on Monday, October 1, 2012, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead. Services honoring her life will also be held there on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m., with Pastor Matt Skelton officiating. Burial will follow in North Canaan Cemetery in Caledonia.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Morrow County Junior Fair Board and may be sent to the care of the funeral home.
