John W. Hickman, Sr.

MORRAL: On October 23, 2012, heaven received another Angel. John W. Hickman, Sr. age 66 of Morral, Ohio was born on April 10, 1946 to the late William and Dorothy (Myers) Hickman. John was a strong, honest, and loving man and will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends. He is survived by the love of his life, Ruth A. (Peak) Hickman whom he married on December 4, 1976. They shared 35 beautiful and love-filled years together, they blended their love and children together, and created a family he loved and enjoyed always. He retired from Marion Power Shovel after 32 years of service. He also worked at Whirlpool Corporation for 5 years and retired in 2004. He also engaged in farming with his dad all of his life. After his father passed away, he continued with his son Jr. At the time of his death, he was still raising freezer beef.

Surviving are his wife and his six children, who were blended as one family: John Jr. (Pam) Hickman of Morral, OH, Kelly (Steve) Brown of Marion, Joseph (Betsy) Hickman of Prospect, OH, Rhonda and Beth Millington at home, and Shawn (Don) Lucas of Marion. From those children, his life was blessed with eight grandsons, James, Cory, and Timothy Brown, John "Trey" (Ashley) Hickman III, Michael and Daniel Hickman; Aleks (Hickman) Kohler and Geddy Foulk. He also left behind four great-grandchildren, Alexiya Jones, Corebyn Jones, John IV "Bug", and Leora Pelphry. Finally, he is survived by his beloved dog, Uno.

Funeral services for John will be on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at 11AM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Reverends David Perry and Tim Myers. Burial will follow in the LaRue Cemetery. Friends may call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 from 4-8PM. Pall bearers will be John Hickman, Jr., Joe Hickman, James Brown, Trey Hickman, Cory Brown, Timothy Brown, Aleks (Hickman) Kohler, Jeff Swavel, and Michael Hickman.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the or the American Kidney Foundation.
