Beverly Deaton Obituary
MARION: Beverly G. Deaton, age 85, of Marion, peacefully passed away April 9, 2015.
Bev was born February 3, 1930 in Medina, OH the daughter of the late Dr. Marion and Yvonne (McNeal) Garver. She attended Bowling Green State University where she met D. Elliot Deaton and they were married August 18, 1949. Bev later attended The Ohio State University where she pursued and received her degree in Education. Bev was employed as an English teacher with Marion Catholic High School and Marion Harding High School retiring in 1992 after 23 years of dedicated teaching. Bev made a positive impact on each of the students that came into her classroom.
She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, Marion Lions Club and the Marion Retired Teachers Association.
Bev is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, D. Elliot of Marion; a son, Robert E. (Kathleen) of Denver CO; two daughters, Barbara D. (Craig) Belton of Corolla, NC and Ann D. (Craig) Blake of Chagrin Falls, OH; nine grandchildren, Trevor, Justin, Taylor, Lauren, Anna, Grant, Brendan, Carli, Brian; and a great grandson, Elliot.
Bev was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda; and a sister, Shirley.
Memorial services will be conducted Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Epworth United Methodist Church with Rev. David Hoffman officiating. The family will receive friends at the conclusion of the service. Private inurnment service at Marion Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Bev's memory, may be made to Marion General Hospice.

Thought so much of Bev. She was a wonderful teacher. My daughter Laura considered Bev to be one of her finest teachers. Harding students were taught with great skill and respect. So sorry for your loss.

Mrs. Deaton was one of the best teachers I ever had. She gave me confidence in myself and was so patient and kind. I still think of her often.

The world lost an amazing, compassionate, well loved teacher, friend, and family member today. Mrs. Deaton was instrumental in my pursuit of a degree in English from The Ohio State University. She left an indelible mark on my memory, heart and soul. May she rest in peace in the Kingdom of the Lord.

Mrs. Deaton was a very good teacher and a wonderful person. It has been a long time since I knew the family in Boy Scouts, but I think fondly of those days and remember Mr. Deaton and my friend Bob.
