Clara Christine Davis

MARION: Heaven gained another angel, Clara Christine Davis, as she went to be with the Lord on Saturday afternoon, May 7, 2016, surrounded by her loving mother and family.

On September 20, 1957, Clara was born in Marion, Ohio, the second of seven children of Betty (Townsend) Davis and the late Jack A. Davis Sr.

For over thirty years, Clara attended MARCA School and Industries, where she was a cheerleader, sang in the choir, and participated in their yearly Christmas programs. She also helped with packaging in their workshop. One of her proudest achievements was participating in the Special Olympics, held in Columbus, placing 3rd in the 50 yard dash and 3rd in the standing long jump, earning her two bronze medals.

Having many interests, Clara enjoyed camping, music, arts and crafts, puzzles, her dog "Lassie", Cedar Point, parades, and she especially loved her special trip to Disney World. She also enjoyed many trips throughout the U.S. with her beloved family.

Clara attended the Central Baptist Church, until she was no longer able due to her declining health.

Having a heart of gold, Clara said "hello" to everyone she passed and she loved to shake your hand and give you a kiss too. Special in many ways, her family always felt God's hand on Clara, helping her through life, putting the people around her to care for her.

Being a big part of her family, she will be dearly missed by her mother, Betty Davis; five siblings: Sharon (Mike) Stoneburner, Steve (Barb) Davis, Michael Davis, Kathleen (Rick) Brandt, and Caroline Miller; seven nieces and six nephews, an aunt and uncle, and numerous cousins and friends.

Including her father, Clara was preceded in death by her brother, Jack A. Davis Jr.

Her family will greet friends from 2 - 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, at the Gunder/Hall & Snyder Funeral Home, 347 W. Center St., Marion. Services honoring her life will also be held there at 2 p.m. on Thursday, with Russell Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Heights Memory Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to her family to help with unexpected expenses.

On behalf of Clara's family, they would like to extend a heartfelt "thank you" to everyone at MARCA, Dr. Vale, Dr. Reddy and staff, Dr. Moore, the ICU nurses, and all of the staff at Marion General Hospital for their special care of Clara.
