MARSHALL — Herman Ed Heim Sr. was born April 26, 1934, in Rusk County, Texas, to John Ed Heim and Flossie Jenkins Heim. He grew up in Henderson and graduated from Henderson High School. He joined the U.S. Marines in 1949 and served during the Korean Conflict
receiving an honorable discharge in 1955.
He worked as a pipe fitter for Brown & Root until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of the VFW
, American Legion and the Hillcrest Baptist Church. He loved to work on cars and was a dedicated family man. Mr. Heim passed away August 22, 2013, in Longview.
Survivors for Mr. Heim are his son, Herman Ed Heim Jr. and wife, Lisa, of Marshall; daughters, Regina Heim Alexander and husband, Bill Haygood of Jefferson and Karen P. Casin of Henderson; grandsons, Wade Heim, Chad Heim, Daniel Alexander and wife, Ashley and Casey Shields; granddaughters, Keitrena Courtney, Chelsea Heim and Heather Shields; and brother, Haskell Heim and wife, Pat, of Marshall. Also surviving Mr. Heim are ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Flossie and John Ed Heim; brother, John Heim; sister, Juanita Alexander; and great-grandson, Keiton Heim.
There will be a visitation 4-6 p.m. today, August 25, 2013, at the Heim residence, 460 Pumpkin Center Road in Marshall, Texas. The graveside funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday, August 26, 2013, at the Heim Cemetery on the grounds of the Heim residence, with burial to follow under the direction of Downs Funeral Home of Marshall.
