McHugh, Elda
Elda M. McHugh, 99, formerly of Halder, died Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Golden Living/Continental Manor, Abbotsford.
She was born Oct. 1, 1913, in Marathon, the daughter of the late Henry and Emma (Heilman) Schilling. She married Walter McHugh on June 1, 1936, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marathon. He died Feb. 15, 1974.
Elda worked for the school lunch program at St. Robert's School in Halder and was employed at the Mosinee School District Food Service from 1969 until her retirement in the spring of 1980. She was active in St. Patrick's Church in Halder, a member of their Women's PCCW, and a member of the Emmet Chums Homemakers for many years. She also worked on the Election Board for the town of Emmet.
Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte (Leonard) Maly, Mosinee, and Patricia (Leon) Sazama, Colby; two sons, Richard (Patricia) McHugh, Eau Claire, and Gerald (Suzanne) McHugh, Stratford; 16 grandchldren; one step-grandchild; numerous great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Francis (Rosalie) Schilling, Eau Claire; and two sisters, Sylvia Rogan, Weston, and Celine (Richard) Seubert, Rozellville. She was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Trent Geiger, two brothers, Marvin and Ralph Schilling, and two sisters, Lillian Frey and Hildegard Phillip.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 19, 2013, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Halder. The Rev. Barnabas Kyea will officiate. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Halder. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. Friday until time of services at the church.
Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, is in charge of arrangements.
The family would like to thank the Golden Living/Continental Manor in Abbotsford for the loving and compassionate care given to Mom over the years.

Charlotte and Lenard I just saw that your mom passed away I am glad that she is now with your dad What a special lady she was . I rember as a kid after your dad died that she had a cook out at the farm for everyone that were a special part of her and Walters life she was such a sweet lady she was so good to my mom when my sister had such major health problems and then when my Mom was fighting cancer. l also rember stoping at her house on way back from Marshfeild and having freash cookies or orther great baked goods when my Mom went to Acorn hill She gave her very large x-mas catus thank still thives to a friend of hers that came from just a little cutting from her plant . Life goses on I guess . What a special Lady she was and she really touched so many peoples hearts. God bless her and Walter and all the peoples hearts she has touched With much respect Tom!!!
