Geraldine Behling Obituary

Behling, Geraldine B.

Geraldine B. Behling, 83, was reunited with her husband, Willard, and with God, on Friday, December 7, 2012. She was a resident at the Marshfield Care Center, 814 W. 14th Street, Marshfield, Wisconsin.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 15, 2012, at Faith Lutheran Church, 207 S. Cherry St., Marshfield. Pastor Tricia Turner will officiate. Burial will be at the Grace Lutheran Church Cemetery in Nasonville, Wisconsin, at Noon on Saturday, preceding the Memorial Service. Pastor Turner will officiate.

Visitation will be Friday, December 14, 2012, from 3:00-7:00 PM at Hansen-Shilling Funeral Home, 1010 East Veterans Parkway, Marshfield, Wisconsin, and from 1:00 PM until time of services on Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church.

Geraldine was born May 20, 1929, the daughter of Lester and Ruth Kiehl. She grew up in Auburndale, Wisconsin, and graduated from Green Valley School. Over her lifetime she worked in Marshfield at Sears, Automated Products, Wick Building Systems, and Arby's Restaurant. She married Willard Behling on September 18, 1948, at St. John's Church in Auburndale, Wisconsin. He died in 1997.

Geraldine loved her family most of all, but it was a small chihuahua dog named Paco that stole her heart in the latter part of her life, and gave her comfort when the family was not around. She loved attending flea markets and displaying her homemade crafts and other found treasures for sale. She was a fine judge of well-worn glassware, which she was able to buy for a song and resell for a symphony. She also loved to tend to flowers, which filled her home both inside and out. And she loved to camp at the Minnesota State Fair each year, a family tradition that began in 1952, and has been maintained by her children to this very day.

Geraldine is survived by her daughter, Linda (Stephen) Raap of Nekoosa, WI, and sons Raymond (Jan) Behling, Ronald Behling and his friend Marle Banie, David (Sue) Behling, and Michael (Lisa) Behling, all of Marshfield, WI, and Daniel (Teresita) Behling of Wausau, WI, as well as the Behling grandchildren, Alissa, Benjamin, Jenna, Jillian, Luke, Noah, Trina, Tyler, and Zachary.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Bernadine and Cindy, and three brothers, Darwin, Darrell, and Willard.

The family wishes to express sincere appreciation for the loving care and kindness provided by the staff at the Marshfield Care Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Faith Lutheran Church, Marshfield, Wisconsin.
