Pernsteiner, Lawrence
Lawrence P. Pernsteiner, 87, Medford, died on Friday, March 1 at the Deerview Meadows Assisted Living in Medford. Funeral Services will be on Monday, March 4 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, at 11:00 AM with Rev. Father Dennis Meulemans and Deacon Joe Stefancin officiating. Interment will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery, in Medford.
Lawrence was born on February 27, 1926 in the Town of Little Black to the late Casper and Alice (Annen) Pernsteiner. He attended the Little Black State Graded School and was a 1944 graduate of Medford High School.
On August 13, 1949 he married Agnes "Aggie" Cypher at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Stetsonville. They lived on a small farm in the Town of Little Black. Lawrence served in the US Army Signal Corps. from 1944 to 1946 in Vienna, Austria. After the service he worked at Hurd Millwork in Medford for 26 years. Then he managed Peoples Choice Credit Union for a number of years until retiring in 1991.
Lawrence was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford; Medford Council of the Catholic Knights of Columbus; and the Klossner-Dietzler VFW Club, Medford. He enjoyed fishing, wood working, playing cards and his grandchildren.
Survivors include, his wife Agnes of Medford; three daughters - Sandy Halada of Ladysmith, Mary (Rick) Smith of Tomah, Nancy (Al) Higgins of Medford; eight grandchildren, Carrie (Andy) Hruby of Weyauwega, Katie (Leif) Tolokken of La Crosse, Thomas (Amber) Halada of La Crosse, Becky (Joel) Rech of Minneapolis, MN, Travis (Sarah) Smith of Portland, OR, Heather (Kevin) Higgins of Appleton, Megan (Shawn) Higgins of Tomahawk, and Jessie (Adam) Tomasko of Green Bay; two great-grandchildren, Therin and Kya Smith of Portland, OR.
Surviving siblings include, Ralph (Darla) Pernsteiner of Spencer, Gerald (Lynette) Pernsteiner of Medford, Kathleen (Frank) Luterbach of Franklin, Alice Pernsteiner of Medford, Robert (Jill) Pernsteiner of Hilton Head Island, NC; Sister-in-law Kathy Pernsteiner of Medford.
Lawrence was preceded in death by a son, Norbert; son-in-law Mark; and brothers Sylvester and Willard Pernsteiner.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to Hope Hospice of Medford or Holy Rosary Church and School, Medford.
