Charlotte was born on January 12, 1932 to Joseph and Clara (Desrouches) Dault in Evanston, IL. She was a graduate of New Trier High School. Charlotte and William "Sonny" Martens, Sr. were united in marriage 59 years ago on May 1, 1954 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hubbard Woods, Il. The couple moved to Greenwood, WI after they wed and would live in Iowa and Illinois, before settling in Marshfield, WI. After working several years in retail, Charlotte started her own sewing and alteration business, later she worked as a secretary at St. John the Baptist School in Marshfield until her retirement.
Charlotte was an active member of the community, serving as President of the Rosary Altar Society at St. John the Baptist Church and President of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #54, both in Marshfield, WI. She devoted years of volunteer service to St. Joseph's Hospital and the Marshfield Care Center. Charlotte loved her family very much and enjoyed making them gifts, especially for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren at Christmas time. She loved baking, sewing, crocheting and spending time on the computer to play games and chatting with friends Elaine Shick of Vancouver, Canada and Sharon Naylor of Heath cote, Australia. Other hobbies included reading, collecting dolls, angels, and bells.
Charlotte is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, William Martens, Sr and her loving children: Gwendolyn (Michael) Klevgard of Loyal, Robbin (Henry) Immerfall of Marshfield, Michael (Dawn) Martens of Marshfield, Thomas Martens of Marshfield, Mark (Deb) Martens of Smithburg, MD, Bradley Martens of Marshfield, Rebecca "Becky" (Joseph) Chenier of Marshfield, and William Jr. (Barbara "Bobbi") Martens of Marshfield. She is further survived by 22 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, her brother Frank Dault of Illinois, many extended family members and close friends.
Charlotte is preceded in death by her parents, son Michael W. Martens in infancy, three brothers and three sisters.
Charlotte will be sadly missed by all.
