Jeanette C. Hilgart, 82, formerly of Auburndale, died peacefully with family by her side on Thursday evening, June 20, 2013 at Edgewater Haven Nursing Home, Port Edwards.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Auburndale, with Rev. Peter Raj officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. The visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, and on Tuesday from 10:00 am until service time at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Jeanette was born on March 17, 1931 in Marshfield, the daughter of Oscar and Tina (Weisesenbeck) Weigel. She attended St. John's Parochial School, Marshfield and was a graduate of Marshfield Senior High School. As a young lady she was employed at Karau's Grocery Store. She was united in marriage to Harold C. Hilgart on August 24, 1954 at St. John's Catholic Church, Marshfield and they would have observed 59 years of marriage this year. After their marriage the Higart's purchased the Hilgart family farm in Auburndale and operated the farm until their retirement in 1993.
Jeanette was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Parish Council of Catholic Women. She enjoyed cooking and baking and always wanted to feed everyone. She also enjoyed gardening, especially her flowers and spending time at the vacation home that she and her family built on Little Bearskin Lake.
She is survived by her husband Harold, and their children, Ron (Linda) Hilgart of Milladore, Wayne (Lori) Hilgart of Rudolph, Tom (Jane) Hilgart of Auburndale, Sara (Jack) Esser of Arpin and Randy (Kristi) Hilgart of Cottage Grove. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She is further survived by her sisters and brother, Marian Redig and Pat (Ernie) Passer, both of Wells, MN, Edwin (Lorraine) Weigel of Marshfield, and Lorraine "Snooky" Fleisner of Marshfield and a sister-in-law, Frances Weigel of Marshfield.
She was predeceased by her parents, a son, Russell, in infancy, a grandson, Nick Hilgart, and brothers, Sylvester Weigel, Herman Weigel, and Oscar Weigel, Jr.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to the staffs of Pine Ridge Assisted Living, Wisconsin Rapids and Edgewater Haven, Port Edwards, for their kind and loving care.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated in her name to Alzheimer's research.
