Hanson, Owen D.

Owen D. Hanson, husband to Elaine J. Ayer passed away Nov. 6, 2012, at the Hospice of Arizona in Mesa, Ariz. Owen was born to Rosalia (Bahr) and Edwin Hanson on May 1, 1923, in Frankfort, Wis. He fought in the Pacific Theater in World War II. On his return, he worked for several years for the family business, Welcome Dairy, Colby, Wis. After his marriage to Elaine in 1946, they also farmed for a short while near Colby, Wis., but later moved to Marshfield, Wis., where he worked as a cheese maker at Clover Cream. In 1972, he and Elaine moved west to Arizona, where he supervised the Maintenance Department at Mesa Lutheran Hospital in Mesa, Ariz. and later the Maintenance Department of the Economy Inns of America in Fairfield, Calif.

He is survived by his spouse of 66 years; a brother, Eldor (Vivian) Hanson; a sister, Darlene Soehrmann; and his four children, Sheila (Brian) Koenig, La Quinta, Calif.; Gale (Kencha) Hanson, Mesa, Ariz.; Barbara (Guy) Peterson, Sun Prairie, Wis.; and Kathleen (Riaz) Chaudhry, Escondido, Calif. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and soon to be 12 great-grandchildren. The funeral and interment will be at the Mountain View Funeral Home & Cemetery, 7900 E. Main St., Mesa, AZ 85207 866-684-1951 on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012. There will be visitation at 10 a.m. and the service at 11 a.m. in the Chapel.
